For those that might be interested, my Dad's squadron VC-27, was one of the most successful combined air-torpedo squadrons in the Pacific theater. The brother of his squadron commander wrote an excellent paper describing the exploits of VC-27 while attached to the USS Savo Island, a small escort carrier. It can be found on line here:
