Someone asked me today to test drive his '87 Carrera (US model) with 915 trans (???) and I obliged. So I got into the car and tried to put it in REVERSE to back out from the driveway. I could not get the shifter into reverse and checked the shift knob. To my surprise, the shift pattern is not the same as that in my SC's with 915 transmission. Where the reverse is below 5th gear shift. This one has the reverse shift beside 1st and up.

Since I have only driven SC's and a couple of '77 cars which have similar shift patterns, when (year/model) did change occur? Do the 915 and G-50 transmission have different shift pattern? Please help me understand. Thanks.
