how did you strip a triple square? Most likely you did not have it seated all the way in. this happens because a lot of dirt gets in the hole. if you can get it out clean the hole the put your tool (maybe the tool is worn out) back in and tap on it with a hammer to seat it all the way in then wrench it out.
to answer your question the tran case is not threaded.
