Try your everyday POS Chevy van. Dealer parts prices are out of control. Two of my vans, one a heavy duty box truck uses the same door handle made for 35+ years. It breaks and a little cr@ppy piece of pot metal inside cost $65.00! They made millions of these things, so you tell me why this cost so much? Next one was my Chevy AWD Astro with the barn doors... same thing... handle just snaps and its $72.00 for the little part! I do my own labor but could only imagine paying another $85.00 per hour to have it fixed.
For comparison, its comical how reasonable a 911 from the 80's era is to own. Full brake jobs for parts - pads - fluid change - rebuild caliper kits for a total cost of $100 or less. Other parts like those hood struts are $20 each or less (Pep Boys). I'm keeping my old sealed beams because they are dirt cheap and actually have better reflective and photometrics than H4's. The high end sealed beams from Sylvania (Vision X-tra) are excellent. Better branded tires (16"s) speed rated from the Tire Rack ran $378 delivered to my door. I could go on, but I think we already know this.
