Mine works, it come on at between 40-50 miles to go, and counts down depending on how I ride. I set the Zumo gauge, which is linear, to go 145 miles, and show me fuel (and stations) the next 50 miles. It's a little red button with fuel pump design on the map, until I touch it, then I get a list of stations, distance, direction and prices.
The Zumo gauge works much better than the Mile to Empty reminder BMW provided. But better that we have no gauge when the fuel strip that fed the gage was historically so defective. Any Mile to Empty non-functional or improper reminder is likely due to that issue, the bad fuel strip one.
