Post Window Glass - Did I Open a Can of Worms?

I'm in the process of replacing some of my glass, and will be going to the later model glass and gasket ('89 to '94 style) that doesn't have the metal trim. I bought a piece of rear glass (that hasn't arrived yet) from a '92 911, and a driver side door glass from a '77 Carrera (which arrived today).

The glass that arrived today has a noticeably different tint than that of my original glass. Now, I'm concerned that the '92 glass will also be different, and I'll end up with glass of multiple shades all over the car.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Was there a particular tinting used on specific model years? I noticed on my glass there's designation that looks like:

"Sekurit"
"\/\/\/ D89"

On the side window I bought, the "D" number is different. Does this designate the tinting of the glass? Will this have to be the same for the glass to match?

Before I invest in any more glass, I'd really like to find out what I need to buy. If it means buying all my glass from '92 model year 911's, I guess that's what I'll have to do.

I've got WAY too much going on at once.....
