I'll check first for continuity in all the wires. There are two wires going the to sensing mechanism, maybe a heater wire and sensor wire. It could be the heater wire is broken. Could also have seen leaded gas somewhere and messed it up somehow.
I'll approach it as an o2 sensor and go from there.
