Another Alusil Conundrum

89 3.2 120k mi. Alusil bores look excellent, no scratches or scuffing but no crosshatching visible. I am reluctant to take the pistons out of the cylinders to measure them because of fear of the rings not seating upon reassembly. Most say not to re-ring Alusil but some say ok to reuse with old rings if not disturbed.

So right now I'm trying to decide my course of action here with the following options:

1) Do not disturb the rings in the bores, reuse and hope for the best

2) Disassemble the pistons & rings, measure bores, pistons and ring groove clearances then, if in spec, reassemble and hope the rings seat ok.

3) Buy a good used set of Mahle nikasil P's & C's, clean up with scotchbrite and install new rings.

4) Have my alusil bores replated with nikasil and use new JE pistons (about $2k)

5) Bite the bullet and buy a new set of Mahle P's & C's (about $4k)

What say you Pelican Brain Trust??
