That's out of the 930 manual.

Once you get it close set the shifter to the best centered position.
Do this by looking as you move the shifter fore and aft, then loosen the
clamp and dial the center in and lock it down. Put a piece of masking tape
on top of the tower and mark that center spot on the tape.

Now check the feel side to side from the reverse plane to the 3rd. / 4th.
plane. When you feel it slide easily from the 3rd. / 4th. plane into the
reverse plane remark your tape and readjust your coupler to the new
mark and lock the coupler down. Leave your tape in place so you always
have your second mark to fall back on. Now go try it out and make any
slight adjustments you think you might need. The real secret is getting
that smooth transition from the 3rd./4th. plane to the reverse plane.
