I've been running an Andial Splitter on my twin plugged '87 Carrera for the past few years. I'm now rebuilding the engine and upping the compression, so I'd like to install a knock retard system. J&S Safeguard stands out as a good solution. Several guys on this forum are using J&S - particularly in the 930 forum.
The Safeguard can work easily enough with the Andial Splitter by wiring it to sit in between the DME and the Splitter. However, J&S advertise that their
Universal model can be optionally equipped with a
dual coil driver for use with a twin plug distributor. John from J&S has been very helpful in answering my questions via email - he's confirmed that with this
dual coil driver that there are in fact two ignition modules in one box. See the details on the

This seems like a great solution for those looking to run twin plugs AND knock retard on a pre-89 car - I'd just like to know if this is a proven solution. Is anyone with an '84-89 Carrera successfully using a J&S Safeguard to drive a twin plug distributor?
