Thanks for the responses. I expect I will need valves aswell. I was figuring 5k for P&C's, maybe 1k for cams and try and get under 9k for all labour, valve job etc. I am not so much trying to be budget conscious (as the engine is good now) but more keep myself in check as its not worth it to me to spend over 15k or so on this specific engine and car which is just used on the street. Just a reasonable improvement will make me happy.
Bruces book highly rates the 3.4. More than anything I want more ft/lbs for street use and this is what got me interested in the 3.4.
The camens ecu sounds interesting as well. I am not sure if anyone has actually validated it yet.
