I have a Safety Devices cage (the 8 point)and a harness bar. It is not legal in PCA (or SCCA I think) to mount the harnesses to the harness bar. It is meant to control the angle of the belts, not to mount them. My belts are mounted to the floor and then loop over the bar. This keeps the angle of the belts as the approach your shoulder in spec. If the angle is too low, ie you mount directly to the floor and then loop over your shoulder, you can compress you spine in a crash.
