The 12 volts was across the 2 pins, but maybe there is a bad connection once plugged in, I will check this weekend. The AAV is the disk version, I know is closes as I placed it in an oven and watched it close.

I will look into the mechanical advance / throttle linkage this weekend also, will have to do some reading up on it. The car (6 months ago) had all vacuum leaks fixed, but I will still have another look

I still suspect something to do with the AAV as driving home last night after the car had been parked outside for 10 hours she was idling at 950 RPM within 5 minutes, but the outside temperature was around 10 C (50 F) as opposed to 0 C (32 F)
