Come backpacking time, in the high Sierras, it kicked my fat ass. I was not used to caring weight and walking for miles at a time. The terrain and the thin air killed me. My biddy came back from the Marines (basic) kicked our skinny ass because he was so used to walking for miles with a pack on him. My suggestion is to get a pack and load it up with some weight (#20?)and start humping the local hills.
