Paul,

I am still wondering why you would need a signal that is hot when the starter is cranking for the conversion. After reading Jim's explanations I was under the impression that you only need the ignition signal (15) and permanent power (30) to the DME harness. The DME will do the rest: Once it realizes flywheel movement via the pickup (cranking) it'll turn on the fuel pump via the DME relay.

As I understand signal (15) is hot whenever the key is in the "run" position. It switches on one side of the DME relay and powers the ignitors and the injectors.

The second circuit of the DME relay controls the fuel pump. The pump only runs while flywheel rotation is sensed. It's a safety feature. On older cars the fuel pump runs once the key is in the "run" position. On my 74 there isn't even a relay for the fuel pump.

Am I missing something?

Ingo
