I don't recall anyone stating the 2007 Ducati 800 GP bike was "unrideable". Rossi made the famous "unrideable" statement about 4 months ago..."2012" after Qutar. The 2007 Ducati has undergone major tire, motor, frame, (and who knows what else) alterations since then. If you review the videos you can clearly see that particular bike running away from the competition. So much so that the commentators would recognize it and repeatedly state it on the air. No manufacturer gets it right every year.
Casey has a unique plight, I feel happy for his success as a family man (I have a 2 year old), and his riding talent is (at times) spectacular. He gives the fans a good amount of his time and absolutely puts on a great performance. But...he has a huge chip on his shoulder and thumbs his nose at the very sport that has made him a mega star. He is quitting, taking his ball home, and talking trash all the while. And the funny thing is, it's no surprise. As far as the "it's the bike winning and me loosing" comment...it makes me feel for him but at the same time if it wasn't at least a little true, everyone (including himself) would not be repeating it.
As far as Rossi's reign being over, I don't think that's even predictable. He went from world champion to 7th in 2 years when signing with Ducati and it's looking about the same this year. For the record, he has never finished a season outside of 3rd in his GP career prior to Ducati. That doesn't just happen without a reason. You can't really compare anyone to a rider like Rossi but if I were to try I would like to recall the time when Mike "the bike" Hailwood came back to racing after 11 years of retirement and won the Isle of Man TT, crushing the nay sayers. And next season I will be happy to take your money against my precious Valentino, not sure who you would bet on though, your boy quit the dream.
