BP did this years ago. and what REALLY pissed me off is they charged me MORE for using THEIR BP card at THEIR station. i trashed the card and now refuse to buy BP gas. have not been in one on over 15 years.
there is a "pre" charge on the cards to check to see if it is a good card.

It's because it costs the merchant money to accept a card.
They are not allowed to charge more, pass the cost along to the consumer, for using a CC but can offer a discount for cash which in my mind is just a way of saying they can charge more for using a CC without actually saying it.
