RUNNING HOT
I just bought a 74 911 about 3 weeks ago.
The car had been siting for a couple of years
I have driven it about 700 miles without any problems temp about 210 and it has been taking along time to warm up about 15miles Is this normal? Until the other day in traffic (outside temp 55) it went up to 250
after I started moving again it went back down. Now it seems to be running about 225 when I stop and 215 when moving. But the longer I sit it seems to keep getting hotter so I have been avoiding traffic and have stop driving until fixed. The fan belt is tight and I just cleaned the oil tank but no differance could it be the termostat? Is there any way to check it and how easy is it to remove. The motor seems to have plenty of power and dosnt leak it also is full of oil
It smokes a little when idling for a few minutes at below 1000 rpm.I think it is valveseals? This is my first porsche and this is new to me I have worked on some corvairs but I see how you could get hooked on driving a porsche. Any suggestions would be very welcome.
