I realize this is yet another cruise control question, but before anyone goes off
, please understand that I have done a fairly extensive search about this topic on the forums and found some information to start the debug, but everyone seems to have different issues and I couldn't find a comprehensive list of items to check or how to start the debug process. I was hoping to get some help with the various items to check so that others who have this problem currently or in the future will have a "list" per se to go about debugging the issue. I will start by providing as much information that I think may be pertinent to the problem. Hoping you guys can help.
- My 993 is a 1997 C4S.
- Bought it used with 34K miles, now 34.8K on the clock.
- When I bought the car, I had the clutch replaced (needed it) so I assume they had to drop the engine and have had to disconnect cables, etc.
- Don't remember trying cruise control prior to the first time I tried and noticed it did not work.
- Potentially related (but don't know) issue, Odometer very recently stopped working. I've read the post about the little plastic gears that deteriorate and have purchased the gears so I can replace them.
- Speedo works fine
- When I try to turn on Cruise Control, I do not get a light on the dash indicating Cruise is on.
Based on what I have written above, could you guys help with the following:
- Does the Odometer function affect functionality of cruise control
- What are the likely list of items I or others with similar problems can check
- Location descriptions and or pictures if possible would be great to help locate switches, connectors, etc.
