GMPP Major Guard opinions
My wife drives a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox that will be out of warranty 11/30/12. I'm looking at the GM Protection Plan Major Guard coverage. It must be purchased before the 3/36 warranty expires. I can get $0 deductible 48 month/32K miles coverage for $1200. I suspect that one failure of a non-power train item like the electric steering rack, ABS, or one of the control modules would probably come close to covering that $1200.
I never purchase extended warranties, but I fear this car has a high potential for expensive repairs. I've only had a high pressure fuel pump fail up to now, but who knows what may happen in the future.
We're happy with the car and I don't see replacing it in the next 4 years. Will GM even be around for another 4 years to make good on this?
It appears to me that it would be in my best interest to wait until my GM 3/36 month warranty is almost expired, as the 48/32 coverage starts from the date/mileage when you buy it.
Anyone have any opinions on this?
