Question Cat bypass with unequal lengths?

I've been thinging for a while to remove the cat & get a chip as a quick & inexpensive way to get a little more power.

My local workshop told me about a test pipe with different length pipes effectively compensating for the fact that the gases from the right cylinder bank have to travel much further, at least on my (stock) 88 911.

Have any of you seen or heard of a similar solution? Do you believe it would make sense? According to the workshop they work very well, and since the guys there are usually very competent I'd lean towards believing them.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
