The distributor does NOT have to be replaced, the belt replacement is all it needs and it isn't all that expensive to have replaced. The pre-92's had no head gasket. MANY have been re-machined to take the gasket, and even if they didn't it doesn't mean there is an issue. Get a PPI and have it checked out, go from there.
