Here is a quick update to my situation. The noise I am hearing is not the fuel pump. I was hearing the noise when in the car and in garage. I turned the key to the “On” position, stepped out of the car and there was zero sound coming from the fuel pump.
So as per L.R.’s post I also opened the engine lid and listened. I did hear several sounds there, including the CDI whine. Car runs and drives fine, so I now suspect I was just overly cautious / paranoid about what I thought were new sounds.
