my buddy has a problem with his '78 SC and we like your input.
A few months ago, his engine started to smoke (oil consumption) when hot.
Until it is hot, it doesn't smoke and then the smoke is suddenly there.
We tought at first it was the heads, so we had them machined and had
new valve guides and caps installed.
This didn't solve our problem.
We also noticed the engine runs fairly hot and oil pressure when hot is 1.5 bar.
We didn't split the engine case but checked the cylinder barrels and piston rings
to replace a few broken studs and everything was ok.
So eventually, the engine is back in the car, we replaced a lot of things, but this
didn't seem to solve our problem.
Did anyone already experience this? maybe a pressure relief valve stuck?
Oil level is ok, we didn't overfill.
