I finally got to the point in my project where I am reassembling the brakes. Part of this is that I am putting on a new master cylinder as preventive medicine as I believe that I had a leaking issue. The booster seemed to work fine when I pulled it. Well, as I grabbed the assembly off the shelf, I noticed a good amount of rust below the master cylinder. Disassembled to find this:
Also found that the brake booster has a good inch and a half of brake fluid in it.
I'm looking for opinions on wether I can clean this up and be able to get many more years out of it or wether it is time to pony up the $700

to get a new one?
Can I just drain out the brake fluid and flush it with some water? Strip and repaint with some black Por-15? Any better ideas how to clean this mess up?
