Assuming a Roady: with the top up, the rear shock mounts (RSMs) will be behind the "carpet" that lines the area the top folds down into behind the seats [not from the trunk]. If you pull it (carpet) down gently in the corners you'll find the two nuts that hold the RSMs in place. If you're right handed, the passenger mount will be easier to get to; if you're left handed, then the driver side one will be. Both require some stretching and bending on your part. but they're pretty straight forward to undo or redo. When you're done, just slide the carpet back up into it's clips.
The shocks are best done with the car up on ramps vs stands. Either will provide the extra clearance to access the bottom mounting bolt... which is supposed to be retorqued with the suspension under load, which the stand won't do. Some people have found curbs to be useful "stands" for those that don't other have them. Again, they allow easier access, and allow the bottom bolt to be retorqued under load.
