Look on the bottom roughly below where the axles come out, between trans proper and the differential. There is a flat spot and the ID is stamped into the metal, not raised like all the casting marks.

82 should be IIRC a G28/03 or 05, something like that. Good to write down the whole number and letter sequence, but serial number and motor ID rarely are even close. Porsche didn't do the matching number thing like some US cars.
