As I recall from my '78 924, you first remove the under belly pan, then you loosen the tensioner bolt on the alternator, then you swing in the alternator and take off the old belt.
When you put on the new belt, you use a flat bar to safely push out on the alternator to tension the belt then re-tighten that tensioner bolt. You should be able to push on the belt and deflect it about 1/4".
