Should there be any vertical play in the tie rod end?
I just had my car looked at for a DE pre-tech. The wrench used a big channel lock and squeezed the tie rod end trying to compress it vertically. The was a little movement as he squeezed the channel lock. When you grab the wheel and move it or wiggle the steering wheel, there is no play at all. Is this natural for the tie rod end to have a little veritcal play? They are new as of two years ago. They have a few track days and about 5K miles on them.
