Beside the T being off by an inch or so, I can't remember if they were the same length.
If the new one actually fit without being under tension (side to side), I think you would be OK. Your old one has a small bend in the rubber portion which make it shorter.
Has for the bending of the small line, it will bend in place. We heat up mine a bit and gently bend it.
