I would think the "Westie's" (Westfalis I think) which were camper vans would use a higher output alt, but maybe I'm wrong. Try type2.com they for sure can tell you which T-4 alt is the highest amps.

BTW I'm puting my 912E together this wekend, I'll look closer at swaping the alt into a 914. May be easier then I think. I'm trying to put a D-Jet 1.7L in the car to get it moving while I re-build the 2.0L so I'll be messing around with adapting the relay board and all that. I'll keep you informed.
