I have an '81 and it has pleated door panels.
All of the other SC's I have seen and worked on (I am a detailer/restorer) have had pleated door panels.
I am sure someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in as well.
It seems like they went to this look around the G body intro in '74. Maybe the '75/'76 cars started with the pleats.
