Installation of Das Sport bolt-in roll bar in 87-89 911 Cabriolet
Hi Pelicans,
I am preparing to install a Das Sport bolt-in roll bar in my 1989 911 Cabriolet. I am doing the install so I can take the PCA HPDC at Summit Point. New rules require roll bars in Cabs even for HPDC. I bought the bar used from another Pelican. I don't have original instructions with pictures for the install, just the text off the Das Sport website.
Would someone please send me pictures of the four points at which you have installed the bar in your car? I would like to visualize that.
I am trying to get an idea of the following:
1. Do I need to pull the carpet off the backs of my rear 'flip up' seat backs and remove the backs from the car completely, or can I just unbolt the seat backs and then tuck them away behind the roll bar somehow with the carpet still attached? I am not very keen on removing the carpet from the seat backs, but maybe it is not a big deal.
2. Do I have to make any cuts in the carpet near the front lower mounting points. It does not look like I have to. Do I simply remove the bolt from the lower seat belt anchor points and then run the new bolt through the seat belt anchor, mounting plate hole, and back into the rocker?
3. What are the four aluminum-colored plates for? Just spacers? Would also like a picture to see how those are used.
Thanks and best,
Jonathan
