I was suggesting a smoke test because I tend to think you have a leak someplace.
Without a smoke machine you can try and visually look for leaks. Based on the way yours is running either you have a really big leak or something else really wrong. One time I took a plastic slurpee cup and cut it so I could duct tape my shop vac hose to it and then I connected it to the intake where the MAF would connect. I then could listen for leaks.
You could also have a camshaft sensor problem too.
I am by far not a 986 expert though. Most of my car repairing exp is on BMW.
