Boxer Cup Races

Wow, and I thought they crashed a lot of them at Daytona. Better than 1/3 down.

From Cycle News:

Brian Parriott rode his BMW Motorrad Team USA machine to an 18th place finish in appalling conditions at the Le Mans circuit, site of the French Grand Prix.

Torrential rains throughout the 16-lap race caused a fair bit of carnage, 13 of the 36 riders hitting the ground.

The rider most able to prosper under the conditions was Italian Alessandro Tomassoni of the Dream Car Team. Tomassoni won the race by 4.163 seconds, separating from a nearly racelong fight for second that went to BMW Motorrad Belgium/Bavarian Moto’s Dirk Buylinckxs.

Parriott had qualified in 9th place.
