Matt - what you said about petting your companion when stepping over/around them - yes - that's what they really love - your touch is what they deserve and is all they really ask for. Small price to pay.
I thought of something today I wanted to pass along.....there's no getting around the sadness and emptiness one feels when a companion is lost.....but your companion wouldn't want you to suffer......they would want you to celebrate the good times and memories. They would want you to move on as painful as it is.
If you want to pay tribute to your companion - go to the shelter and save another life...best medicine one could ask for.
Good to read everyone's posts here....it helps all of us I'm sure.
