First, decide whether you want to be a 1988 owner, or not. Arguably the best shorthood EVER made.
Second: John Walker. Get the straight story. Leak between heads and cam tower? Not very common and the response "valve adjustment won't fix" does not make sense. Valve adjustment is checking and modifying if out of spec the clearance between the tip of the valve and the adjustable elephant foot on the rocker. It has NOTHING to do with whether the engine leaks oil or not.
