Sheesh, you can't really tell where these threads are gonna travel, can you.
I don't want to steal the credit for cure. After all the HES banter I got a bit paranoid, that combined with the obsession to take everything apart that I get my hands on (well, almost everything as some things are better left intact) led me to find the stuff for what appears to be the inevitable HES problem. Throw in the need to have backups for the backups and you end up with a spool of expensive cabling and a bag of Hall sensors. What's the adage: why buy one when you can have two at twice the price?
Brad, I'm up for suggestions to get the job done. My weekdays are tied up at school right now. You can send the unit to me but what I'd really like is to do is get a waveform of the four coils and both HES'es to see exactly what's happening when these things go bad.
