Question Clutch not catching

I just want to run a diagnosis past yall. '83 SC with original 3.0L and 915 transmission.

We just mated the motor and transmission back into the car last week. I had a timing issue that prevented the car from starting, but have corrected that today.

I feel sure we mated the transmission correctly. I had the clutch release fork in the same position as when the transmission was removed. I re-used the helper spring and re-attached the clutch cable which was replace about 3,000 miles ago. the pressure plate, bearing, etc were all replaced at about 30,000 miles ago. Prior to the seperation everything was working well.

When pressing the clutch pedal it feels as though there is no resistance for about 1/3 the travel of the pedal. At full depression the transmission grinds. I have not forced the shifter.

I think that either I have not fully "tightened" the clutch cable or that I have the clutch release fork in an incorrect position. Thoughts, opinions? Once again, I really appreciate it!
