Just disassembled and reassembled engine to correct a few leaks. Only hardware changes were a new shift fork, throwout bearing and helper spring. That's why I originally thought it might be clutch related, but I can shift through all the gears and the car actually pulls better in reverse.

In re-thinking everything, which leads to second guessing everything I did, I was wondering if somehow I missed it on setting the initial cam timing. I am going to pull the upper covers tonight and re-check the cam timing.

The car idles ok and distributor timing seem ok, it just has an abnormally weak bottom end. It can hardly get started.

Thanks for any suggestions...
