#1 - Clear Channel owns the majority of radio stations. They have tons of listeners and now facebook profiles where listeners "follow" their posts. This helps them gather useful demographic data on how to better market and advertise. This is like gold in the marketing world. FB charges to "promote" posts, but if they are 'viral' enough the community will share and re-share. More effective campaigns use shill profiles to further promote and cross-share the content. This ties back into their analytics and reporting in FB and other suites of tools to shows campaign effectiveness, conversions (whatever the KPI may be), shares, likes, comments, and overall market penetration. Make sense? This is why i block every radio station post shared and re-shared.
