What's wrong with replacing the existing door speakers with good quality 5 1/2" speakers? Get the co-axial type that have a directional tweeter, so you can aim it. Diamond audio or JL make some amazing speakers that fit in the stock location.
They would also hide behind the original grills. The addition of a small 2 channel amp would help kick-up the sound. If you found the need for additional bass, a Kicker self-powered sub fits nicely under the seat.
