Update on my intermittent starting problem - I purchased the Bosch sensor and began investigating the process of removing the old one, and also tried to determine which one was at fault. Apparently I only had a contact issue, as I haven't had another start failure since wiggling the plug-ends to see how they are attached. It's been a month and a half so far. I'll hang onto the spare sensor just in case though.
