I know this is an odd question. Has anyone here ever bought a bike sight unseen on ebay, CL, or some other site? I have been watching a GS over at ADVRider and am thinking about pulling the trigger on it. I have to admit that I am really spooked about sending a guy a bunch of money (to me) and relying on his good nature to meet the shipper when the truck shows up.

I have heard really bad things about Paypal Buyer Protection. A guy at work got badly burned buying a car on eBay and had used Paypal. Evidently, and not surprisingly, there are many, many exclusions and conditions that cover Paypals proverbial ass.

Do you just close your eyes, click Buy It Now, and hope for the best?
