Ouch! Both for your wallet and the dog!

When Peps was 6 months old she stepped on a shard of pottery in the back yard that was razor sharp. A large flower pot had soil in it and had gotten water in the soil. The water froze and the pot had broken into long pieces.

I had let her in from her visit to the puppy facilities (back yard) and found her bleeding like a stuck pig. She was oblivious to it. My vet wasn't open as it was the weekend so we went to the emergency pet hospital to have her stitched up. $$$

We went to back to our vet the next week and he cleaned up the wound and re-stitched it and dressed the wound. He added ultrasound treatment at each dressing change (2x per week).

The vet kept us on an open tab and didn't ask to settle up money wise until Peppers foot was completely healed. I was expecting it to be a pile of cash but when he told me the amount I couldn't get my credit card out fast enough to pay before he changed his mind.

If anyone in Calgary is looking for a great vet, PM me and I will send you his contact information.
