Yes, it is possible, probably slightly more difficult. Since you have the engine out I think that should make things quite a bit easier though. Now really would be a good time to address those heat exchanger nuts though. It is actually not a bad thing that the studs are coming out...I would replace them and install all new hardware with liberal anti-seize. You never know when you might need to drop the exhaust.
