The "old trick" went like this:
1) Source yourself an old condenser....the kind that fits on the side of a distributor and works as part of an ignition system.
2) Remove spark plug lead from an engine.
3) Place "pigtail" lead of condenser into the disconnected spark plug lead and place the body of the condenser to electrical ground.
4) Start engine for a just a few seconds, then shut off.
5) CAREFULLY remove the condenser pigtail from the spark plug lead. Whatever you do, DO NOT hold the body of the condenser in your hand and grab the end of the pigtail lead......that is for your buddy to do when you hand it to him and say "hey, you know what this is?
