Early SC car........
Krusty,
It is very difficult to give a good evaluation of a car over the Internet. Without seeing and test driving the car you will be hoping to get lucky. There is no easy way to find the real worth and value of the car without any physical inspection. In my case, the first thing I like to see is the condition of the interior and exterior paint, second question, is the engine running or not? All these have to be considered and factored. I could rebuild engines so having a running engine is a bonus.
For $20K, the car should be drive able or atleast you could start the engine. Any history of engine rebuild? Are the cylinder studs still the original Dilavar? Transmission is still good? There are too many questions to be answered. The more you know all these things the better for you to know which direction to go. The car might not need any major work except a tune-up but you do not know.
If the engine is in good mechanical condition, the CIS aspect is easy and simple. Get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done by someone who knows SC engines with CIS. Keep us posted.
