Gurgling in Gas Tank

I was doing a throttle body sync on '04 R1100S. I know you should run a fan when doing this in front of the bike for air movement/cooling but it was a relatively cool day (about 60 degree in garage) and did not do.

Not sure of the number of minutes but ran bike on center stand for a good 5-10 minutes, smell fueled and when I opened tank cap, heard gurgling. Heard similar noise on an old '69 Stingray with Quadrajet as that noise was coming from fuel bowl as the gas was vaporizing as a result of no carb spacer between carb and cast iron intake and as a result, carb getting too hot. The gas tank on the R1100S, even had a poof of vapor come out of fuel inlet like a nasty fart. The tank really was warm but not like an oven.

Bike started and ran fine but the gurgling was strange. Checked Internet and one post said it would be a bad fuel line inside of tank that was allowing air to come out into the fuel. Made sense. Little baffling since all of us have been stuck in traffic in 100 degree days for over ten minutes and I never have noticed to gurgling but never popped the tank open either. Also, it is not like cylinder heads are right up against tank like on a Harley or inline 4 capturing heat.

Gas tank gurgled for a good 30 minutes after finishing the carb sync and then noice quit. That was Saturday. On Sunday, took bike out for 20-25 miles and were was fine.

Has anyone experience gas tank gurgling and what did you think it was?
