Terostat ribbon caulk was used between the rear window anodized trim and the body and between the anodized trim and the window seal. Essentially the rear metal trim around the targa window was sandwiched in two strips of ribbon sealant.

On the anodized trim for the side windows, a plastic tape that looks a lot like black vinyl electrical tape with the exception that it is not as elastic was used between the trim and the metal door.

At least this is the way it was set up on my '89
